Fours is located in the Nièvre department, one of the four departments of the Burgundy region.

Burgundy has a rich and varied cultural heritage. The region has Gallo-Roman fortresses, Romanesque churches and abbeys, and castles and museums, fascinating tours in cities such as Autun, Beaune, Dijon, Moulins and Bourges. The good reputation of Burgundy in the field of gastronomy (Coq au Vin, Boeuf Bourguignon, the tender meat of Charolais cows ...) and prestigious wines, for example to discover through 'Route des Grand Crus de Bourgogne', is known the world over.

One of the hidden treasures of Burgundy is that it is perfectly suited for cycling, hiking and walking. Due to the routes along the canals and the gently sloping nature of the landscape, it is a joy to explore the surroundings by bicycle or on foot. We will happily provide you with the necessary maps and routes and a lunch if desired.

The nature of Burgundy is, in each season, truly breathtaking: the light sloping Loire Valley, the forests of the 'Parc Naturel Régional du Morvan', or the vineyards of the Côte de Chablis, the excellent cycling and walking routes through lightly hilly, wooded area (for example 'tour de Bourgogne à vélo') and facilities such as golf (around 20 courses in the area with 6 courses located less than 75 km from Fours), horse riding, swimming (for example in the lakes of the 'Parc Naturel régional du Morvan'), mountain biking and fishing.

Markets are held in the area on several days, where local specialties, such as cheese and wine, are offered. There are also many Sunday markets in summer. Every weekend in the summer 'foires puces' (flea markets), 'vide grenier' (attic cleanups) and second-hand markets (antique market) are held where you can find real bargains. We happily provide you with the information about the markets in the area.

Children will certainly enjoy a great day out at attractions such as:

- From Decize by boat or by kayak sail the Loire
- Bibracte, archaeological park in Mont Beuvray center with special programs for children
- Le PAL at Magny-Cours, an amusement park and zoo together
- Jungle Kid, more than 60 activities indoor, useful when it rains (not on your holiday, of course!)

Fans of motor sport may go to Magny Cours near Nevers for races such as Bol d'Or and World Superbikes.
